Seating Charts, signs and gift tags

Seating charts offer an alternative to traditional place cards. Available on mirrors or custom designed wood signs.. these signs have to be seen to believe.

A place card is placed on the ballroom table to indicate what place setting a guest is assigned. An escort card is placed outside the ballroom indicating what table a guest at an event, such as a wedding or banquet, is assigned to sit. Escort cards generally have the guest's name and table number, and frequently have some design as well to add style. Place cards usually only have the guests name written on it.

Not often do you get to start a wedding trend. The luxury wedding calligrapher Carla Hagan has created quite a stir introducing elegant and unique escort cards, place cards, table numbers, and invitations using exclusive agate slices from Rab Labs New York. Edged in 24k gold with gold leaf calligraphy by Carla Hagan, these agates are in high demand.

About Calligrapher
carla Hagan

Hello, my name is Carla Hagan and I would like to welcome you to my site. For the past 10 years, I have been a professional calligrapher specializing in wedding calligraphy for invitations, envelopes, place cards, Programs, menus, and seating charts. I also perform custom commissioned work for bar-mitzvahs, galas, and charity events.
As a child I can remember watching my grandmother carefully write out elegant letters long before email and the internet, when handwritten correspondence was commonplace. We lived in different parts of the country, and my grandmother and I would often communicate through letters. I fondly remember waiting in anticipation for a letter from her, and always being impressed with the quality of her handwriting. On my 10th birthday, my grandmother gave me my first calligraphy kit, and I fell in love with the written word. Ever since, I have taken advantage of this unique skill whenever possible, whether it’s writing out invitations, or doing special projects for friends and family.
In 1995, I turned my hobby into a business, and my client base has steadily grown. I am proud to be a member of the South Florida Calligraphy Guild and the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH). As I attend annual conferences and workshops amongst my enlightened peers, I am honored to learn and grow in the inspiring shadows of the Masters. I have been working with brides and event planners for the past 10 years and have an excellent understanding of wedding traditions and etiquette. I can help you with designing your invitations, explain the pros and cons of seating charts, place cards, and escort cards, and maybe even offer a few suggestions to add special touches to your event that you haven't yet considered. My studio is located at the Social House in Lake Worth, Florida, though I enjoy serving clients nationwide.

At Carla Hagan Designs, our mission is Create, Give & Inspire. In keeping with that mission, we hope that we can inspire you to learn calligraphy.

We offer a unique learning approach to calligraphy designed to heighten your love of hand lettering, challenge you to improve your hand, and encourage you to practice.Workshops, online coaching, and independent self guided programs are all designed to help you improve as a calligrapher.

Our workshops are one day, three hour introductory or intermediate calligraphy courses. In our workshops, Carla Hagan will teach students how to use pointed pen calligraphy nibs, an oblique pen holder and real ink, to create gorgeous hand lettered designs. Students will learn how to draw the thick and thin lines that set the pointed pen apart from regular handwriting.

Once the workshop is complete, you journey is just beginning.

Students have the option of joining our unique, one-on-one calligraphy coaching program. One of your workshop instructors will become your Calligraphy Coach. Your coach will work with you through our custom online portal to help and encourage you develop your calligraphy skills.

Utilizing the learning portal, students will have the opportunity to continue their studies by completing assignments posted to their student accounts. As you complete your assignments, you will upload digital photographs of your work to your personal calligraphy gallery. You can also use the portal to ask your Calligraphy Coach any questions that you have. Your coach will review your work, answer your questions, give you suggestions for improvement, and encourage you to continue practicing. This form of one-on-one coaching will accelerate your learning far faster than reading off the shelf books and practice guides alone. Our Coaches have the option of using Skype, phone calls, or email to review your work and help you progress on your Calligraphic journey. There is no easy way to learn calligraphy. It requires consistent practice like every other valuable skill. However, calligraphy is not nearly as difficult as it first appears. Your coach will encourage you to succeed.

Students of the Calligraphy Academy have used their calligraphy to supplement their artistic designs, photography and design projects for their home.

In our beginners coaching program, you will learn to letter beautiful envelopes, invitations, save-the-dates, love letters and scrapbook layouts.

The coaching program starts with a quick review of the basic lettering skills you learned in your workshop and a review of necessary supplies. .

Then you’ll use custom practice guides from The Calligraphy Academy for your pointed pen work, tracing letter-forms and review the formation of words and positioning those words on the page.
